The Sixth Gate of Descent
September 19, 2025: Venus meets with the moon in Leo
Venus descends in the morning sky, shining brightly as Morning Star. She meets with the moon at the Sacral Chakra gate.
Venus Speaks
I come to this gate depleted. I am exhausted in this unbecoming. I don't know where to orient my focus. I don't know where to invest the energy I have. So I disperse it on the winds, sparks and flames blown away into nothingness. I feel my fire sputter and crackle and hiss. I keep walking, keep going forward on this journey. It pulls me and I can't not keep going. But I am tired.
I feel lost. I feel bound. There is something that pulls in my belly, deep within my yoni. Each step forward I take I feel the tug and pull of an old wound, an old scar. But I don't remember the injury. The pain is there and I don't know what it is.
Gate keeper, you ask me to release, to let go. To shed another layer of identity. But what if I don't know what is binding me? How do I shed that which I do not know? Is it even mine? Or my ancestors's wounds? I do not know.
I am here at this gate. I choose to go forward. I am willing. But I am depleted. Lost. Not knowing. Something in me keeps me going and I release into this strength.
The path of inquiry is a path of challenge and adventure always leading us into the unknown.

Red Essence
The Quality of Animating Force
This willingness to feel our fear and continue our inquiry appears as a natural resilience—nothing strange or unusual, just a natural sense of how we can experience ourselves. This strength that we feel in our hearts infuses the soul with a boldness that allows her to be open to seeing things she has never seen before—even things she considers to be threatening or terrifying.
From this perspective, you can see that self-realization or spiritual maturity is not for the squeamish, and not for the dilettante. You need to be serious about the journey in the sense of being willing to risk your life for it. If you’re going to complain or retreat every time something difficult happens to you along the way, then you are interested in something else; you’re not a true spiritual inquirer.
Such is the fullness of the Red Essence that it arises in many flavors to support the openness of our inquiry: strength, energy, expansion, and the capacities to discriminate and confront our experience as we discover what is true. When this fullness of flavors fills our heart, it gives us the courage to welcome whatever the adventure of life brings us.

Inquiry Questions
Take some time to drop in, deepen into the quiet of your unfolding soul, and explore what is here now in your awareness, as you embody Venus as Morning Star.
How do you accommodate others at the expense of your real self? Where did this pattern come from in your life development?
What is your relationship with limitations? How do you deal with them?
How do you relate to your drive, your motivating force? What is hones your drive? What disburses it? Where do you experience limitation in drive? Where do you experience flow?
What is your own unique lens through which to explore this Essence of Red, the quality of strength, of Venus in Aries? With whom do you journey this cycle?
Ritual Space
Take some time to drop into ritual space as you receive the initiation of this gate. We step into liminal space, time out of time, in ritual space. We connect with the lineage of those who have watched the stars for millennia, receiving the gift of Venus's journey, aligning ourselves with the cycles that are already unfolding. We remember our nature as beings who cycle, change, transform. We remember how to receive knowing directly, rather than needing others to tell us what is so.
You may wish to create an altar, light a candle, and anoint yourself with oils. Sit with this gate, the quality of Essence that is being called forward. As you deepen in surrendering to receiving initiation, ask who would come to guide you in your journey with this quality of Essence? What of yourself do you offer in return? What is calling to be set down at this gate? What pattern, belief, way of being in this world, is challenged by this quality of Essence? What are you ready to release in order to deepen more fully in this journey?
What gift is revealed in the releasing of this pattern, belief, or way of being? What has more freedom to be itself in this release? You may see this directly, or may need to live with this initiation throughout the whole cycle and come back and answer this question before entering into the next gate. You may wish to draw cards to receive guidance in this way.
As you complete your experience in ritual space, take time to offer thanks and adoration to the archetype, to Venus, to your personal guide that arose for this journey, to your ancestors and lineage. Offer thanks to the land that holds and nourishes and grounds you. In the giving and receiving we remember our deep connectedness to all beings everywhere, throughout time and space.
Remember and Record
As we continue to explore drive, animating force, this next cycle, remember the quality of the space at the end of our temple circle. That. Drive is not something we generate or do, it is something already there that permeates the space, and we perceive it as we relax into releasing old binding structures.
Venus in Aries starts out all fire and boldness and brash beginnings. This journey has been one of continually honing one's fire, potentizing, drawing down and feeling into the deeper structures that support our fire. This Red Essence quality of Strength may be dazzling and vibrant, and it is also this subtle, unstoppable, permeating force, this animating force that allows all of creation to be and become.
You may wish to draw, make, create something that symbolizes the constricting pattern of the mother line, and truly lay it to rest and bury it. Yew trees have stood guardian over sacred spaces, particularly graveyards, for centuries, in their nature to protect, both keeping those out who would desecrate the sacred space and in keeping the dead dead. Play with yew this cycle, the branch, or staff, or wand, or bough, or berries. What does yew have to teach you about guardianship of the Feminine?
Continue making contact with your pelvic bowl, your yoni, your seat of your animating force. Let your breath softly caress this space, softening into the subtle pulse of energy that is already there.
